How to Get to Madrid

Madrid is located in the center of Spain and is the capital city of the country. Madrid is fairly easy to get to, with flights coming in from all over Europe & the rest of the world.

The main airport in Madrid is Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD), and is about a 19 minute metro ride into the city.

The main train station is Estación Madrid – Puerta de Atocha, and is about a 7 minute metro ride from downtown.

What to Do in Madrid

Madrid is Spain’s capital and a fantastic city to explore!

Visit Plaza Mayor – Madrid’s vibrant main square, packed with restaurants, cafes, and street artists.

Take a walk down the Gran Via – Madrid’s main shopping street & the most well known street in the city.

One of Madrid’s most iconic features is Parque del Retiro. This massive 19th-century park has a boating lake, rose garden, and the beautiful Palacio de Cristal.

Visit Museo Nacional del Prado, an art museum featuring Velazquez, Goya, and El Greco masterpieces.

Sorolla Museum is the former home studio of the 20th-century painter Joaquín Sorolla and showcases his ethereal paintings

Another amazing art museum is Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, which houses 13th-20th century masterpieces.

The weather here varies depending on what time of year it is and the current weather patterns.

The hot season lasts from June to September, with an average daily temperature above 83°F. The hottest month of the year in Madrid is July, with an average high of 91°F and low of 63°F.

The cool season lasts from November to March, with an average daily temperature below 58°F. The coldest month of the year in Madrid is January, with an average low of 33°F and high of 51°F.
